This area of Brugge is one of the oldest and was once a small village before being swallowed into the larger city that encompasses a great deal of the area. The roots of the village can still be seen, and there are a great many fine looking buildings that have been well preserved and hardly touched by the hand of time. A series of walks are recommended around the area to get to know the old village.
