On the Kapelstraat, close to the centre of the city, the Church of Our Lady is another great example of fine religious architecture that has gone on in this area of Belgium for centuries. There had been a chapel on this site since the 14th Century, but the current exceptional piece of work was built in a classicist in 1727, and contains the famous 14th Century Madonna statue.
