This beautiful and ancient archway is dated at 1671, and is thought to be one of the oldest surviving pieces of architecture in the town. Most accept that at one stage this arch would have been part of the ancient Saint Peter’s Church that no longer exists. Showing a statue of the Virgin Mary and child, the symbolic archway is a well loved part of the town’s infrastructure.
