The belfry is one of the most recognisable features of the Namur skyline and is certainly the best loved monument by the people of the city. Built in 1385, the large tower was originally used as lookout point for the city in times of war. A fantastic piece of architecture in its own right, the tower has been protected and is well looked after by the local authority.
