The canal is one of the central features of this small community. When it was built it was intended to be used primarily for trade, but in the modern age, almost all of this trade has moved to the roads for transport purposes. The result is a waterway that is now used by leisure craft predominantly. It offers a towpath where visitors can walk along beside the river, lapping up the man made and natural environment.
