Claude de Heid was an important figure in the history of the town, and a religious man who was looked up to. After his death in 1614, it was decided by the authorities and the people of the town that a large monument was to be dedicated to him. This took the form of this fantastic giant cross that dominates the skyline in an impressive manner.
