De Barkentijn means the Corner House in English and is widely regarded as one of the most beautiful examples of Norman style building techniques on the west coast of Belgium. The sub-structure is formed from quarry stone and the cellar windows which are arch shaped are very distinctive of this kind of property. There are a great many other architectural gems to be discovered when looking close up.
