Oostende has a long and interesting history, mainly driven by the significance of it being a deepwater port on the coast, making it an import naval point as well as being politically sensitive. This museum however is not concerned with the large scale top down changes that have occurred, but focuses on the lot of the common man, and observes how people have changed socially throughout the centuries.
