The Groen Waterke is the only remaining section of the canal that was once known as the Melaan, vaulted over in the 19th Century. The canal is green because of the large quantities of duck-weed that grow in it. The area around the canal offers some of the more picturesque views of the Refuge of Saint Triuden, and other architectural delights.
