The House of Refuge of Tongerlo Abbey was built in the 15th Century and still remains almost exactly as it was built all those centuries ago. Originally intended as a place of refuge and safety for visitors to the abbey, and the poor who were in need, the building was transformed on several occasions, before settling as the home of a tapestry centre.
