This ruin of Sint Laurenstower is extremely significant as it marks the spot where there was a place of worship for around a thousand years in the community. The church was destroyed on more than one occasion and was turned into a reinforced water tower for a time in the 14th Century. During the First World War, the church remains were used as a gun post and a lookout for troops.
