Saint Bartholomew Church was built by the successor of the famous Bishop Notigner, who made many important changes to the way that the church was run in and around Liege. The choir, which still remains today, dates from the 11th Century and is one of the oldest parts of any church in the city. Other parts of the church were added over a period of several hundred years.
