The story of St. John’s Church is an interesting one, and quite different to that of most famous churches in the area. Built in the early 1960s it was constructed as modern place of prayer to serve the ever increasing housing estates that were built in this area of the town to replace that which was destroyed after the First World War. The towering modern centrepiece is recognisable from some distance away.
