Saint Martin was the patron saint of warriors and was chosen by Bishop Notger as the saint of his church in the 10th Century. The original church structure was sadly destroyed in 1291, and then rebuilt in the 15th Century. The majority of the excellent church that can be seen today is from around that period and slightly later. There are many fine carvings and pieces of stained glass within.
