Rik Ryon is a well known artist and sculptor in the area and was responsible in 1989 for creating this marvellous statue. Situated at the end of St. Annastraat, ‘de Spellewerkege’ translates as the lace worker, and refers to the practice of making lace that has taken place in this town for generations, and is one of the main industries and traditions of the people.
