The Beguinage Museum has recently been listed as a UNESCO World Heritage Site. The museum tells the story of these interesting communities that used to consist of many unmarried ladies who lived a pious life of solitude without having to take religious vows. There are a great deal of interesting documents and artefacts on show to the visiting public.
