The Belfry is one of the most recognisable and well loved monuments in the city, looking above the main market square at the heart of the community. It was built in 1617 and was under construction for nearly ten years. It contains the bells that one hears chiming above the city everyday, an iconic symbol of the city and a proud piece of architecture.
