Not far from the market square, the Castle of the Counts of Brabant is a magnificent piece of 12th Century architecture at the heart of the city. Surrounded by a small moat, this fantastic building has been through a lot in its long lifetime. In the 18th and 19th Century it fell into disrepair and it has only been in relatively recent times that it has been restored to its former glory.
