Henry VIII’s Tower is one of he few reminders that Tournai was the only city in Belgium that has ever been under the control of the English. The Tudor king had this large structure built 1513 as a defensive post to protect the city from aggressive armies. This wonderful piece of ancient architecture still stands on the edge of the city.
