The horse racing track in this community is one of the most well loved institutions in any part of the region. It is home to the Great Flanders Steeplechase, one of the most famous races in Europe. A great deal of attention befalls the race-track when a big meeting is on and it seems like half of the town end up trackside, cheering the horses along.
