Our Lady of Mount Carmel is thought to have a history and origins that can be dated back to the late 1600s. The inhabitants of Zevendonk built a new chapel in their hamlet, an area that has now been swallowed up by the growth of the city. Another church was recorded in the 19th Century, but this was removed in 1991 to be replaced by an ultra modern and interesting piece of design work.
