The 14th Century Chapel of Theobaldus is one of the most well recognised and well loved pieces of architecture amongst the people of this city. There is a legend in the city that this saint defended the people against the onslaughts of the Battle of Turnhout. The chapel went through a grand restoration in the 17th Century and again in the mid 19th Century and early 20th Century.
